ಯುಗಾದಿಯೊಳು ಪುರಾಣ ಮಹಿಮೆ‬

This is poetry and purely out of imagination. This poetry seeks to imagine the relevance of a myth with the current Ugadi.

ಧ್ಯಾನದಿ ಮುಳುಗಿಹ ಶಿವನನು ವರಿಸಲು|
ರತಿಯವತಾರವ ಸತಿ ತಾನ್ ತಾಳಿರೆ||
ಮನ್ಮಥ ಬಾಣಕೆ ಶಿವ ಸಿಡುಕಾಗಲು|
ಶಿವ “ವಿಕ್ರಮ”ದಲಿ “ಮನ್ಮಥ” ಮಡಿದನು||

Just like how “Manmatha” got destroyed by the “intense” (Vikrama) gaze of Lord Shiva, so is the “Manmatha” samvatsara destroyed by the “Vikrama” (intensity) of the new samvatsara (durmukhi).
